CRS Outlines Progress of Dismantling ObamaCare
September 17, 2013
I'd like to share with you the latest report from the non-partisan Congressional Research Service (CRS) to Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) that details 19 instances in which portions of ObamaCare - the Affordable Care Act (ACA) - have been successfully amended, rescinded, repealed or delayed.
Specifically, the report found:
- The President has signed 14 laws (several with multiple provisions) that each amend, rescind, or repeal part of ObamaCare.
- The Obama administration has also delayed at least 5 significant provisions of the law unilaterally.
The bottom-line is this law is unworkable.
Although the Democrat-led Senate still refuses to take up legislation to fully repeal ObamaCare, House Republicans have not stopped looking for ways to defund it. Republicans - who control one third of the federal government - are toiling alone and have to work smarter and harder to promote the will of the American people. A majority of Americans still disapprove of the law, and folks back home have said loud and clear - they want it scraped from the books. This fall I will continue to chip away at this terrible law. This government-knows-best health care is not what the American people want, need and deserve. Rest assured that I will continue to derail this train wreck and replace it with patient-centered reforms that keep Washington and it's bureaucrats out of your health care decisions.
