Sam Johnson calls President’s jobs plan “Son of Stimulus”Opposes increased spending and tax hikes to grow economyToday U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson (TX-03) took to the floor of the U.S. House to reject President Obama’s recent jobs proposal. A long-time fiscal conservative, Johnson represents portions of Dallas and Collin Counties. To view video of Johnson’s remarks click here. Remarks as prepared for delivery: The President wants Congress to pass his $447 billion dollar Jobs plan – which should really be called “Son of Stimulus.” Yet more spending and higher taxes as the President’s Jobs plan proposes will not get our economy moving in the right direction. This is just the same act, different day.
It is time for our tax-and-spender-in-chief to stop pushing these failed policies and start listening to the American people.
With unemployment above 9%, we need to get Americans back to work by stopping out-of-control spending, reforming our tax code, and putting an end to the senseless job-killing regulations of this Administration. Jobs are there for example if we drill for domestic oil and gas. But we simply cannot tax, spend and borrow our way to prosperity.
