ABOUT THE CONGRESSIONAL VETERAN COMMENDATION (CVC) PROGRAM

North Texas is home to fine Americans and exceptional veterans. To honor our community’s brave veterans’ service and sacrifice, I am proud to host the annual Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) for the Third District of Texas. This nominations-based program is designed to publicly recognize the wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of veterans. The CVC also works to preserve these veterans’ stories for future generations of Americans.

CVC recipients are selected by a board and are publicly honored during a special ceremony.

NOMINATE A VETERAN FOR THE 2017 CVC - Program's Final Year

Nominations for the 2017 CVC are now open.  Please know that, because the 115th Congress will be my final term, this will also be the final year I host the CVC.  If you've been waiting to nominate someone, now is the time!

In order to be considered for the prestigious award, veterans must currently reside in the Third Congressional District.  Nominees must have served as active duty military personnel or been reservists called to active duty.  They also must be retired or honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Forces.

Anyone may serve as a nominator, and they may nominate as many veterans as they would like.  Complete nomination packets should be mailed, hand-delivered, or emailed to the Plano office no later than July 27th, 2017.  Please note that nomination packets will not be processed if incomplete.  Please ensure that all potions of the nomination are submitted together.

2016 CVC

The Sixth Annual Veterans Commendation Ceremony and Reception was held on December 10th, 2016. I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the 10 veteran honorees!
These men represent several branches of our Armed Services, but more importantly they represent several generations of faithful service to the protection of our Great Nation.

It was great to have such a large community turnout to help pay tribute to these outstanding veterans for their military and civilian service.  I’m thankful we were able to pass down our honorees’ examples of patriotism, bravery, and love of country to future generations – and I look forward to carrying on the tradition in 2017!
